Notice CP508C is a very distressing letter to receive from the IRS. The opening line states, "Notice of certification of your seriously delinquent federal tax debt to the State Department". It indicates that the IRS has notified the State Department to deny you a Passport and other intimidating enforcement efforts. However, a Notice CP508R (below) reverses this determination & restores your Passport to you.
What to do in response to IRS Notice CP508C:
First, contact the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778 for updated information about the status of your Passport. Jot down who you are speaking with and notes to yourself.
Next, you must obtain your Account Transcripts to see what has caused this debt and what limitations period exists. Note the date of assessment and the method of assessment, i.e. by the IRS or by your filed tax return.
Then, you must complete either a Form 433F or a Form 433A to present to the IRS so an agreement can be reached and avoid a denial of your Passport.
Use the TaxHelp Webinars to help you complete the Forms.
After you have obtained this information and completed the Form 433, please call us so we can construct an Action Plan to the IRS for you to erase, reduce or avoid this IRS tax debt!
