Respond to Letter 96C
You should confirm the status of your account and any statute of limitation issues by calling the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to get your Account Transcripts. These will tell you the status of your file so you can make a better response. If you feel a response is necessary, respond timely, carefully and succinctly. It is best to investigate, copy & include all evidence required.
But, don't depend on the IRS to contact you. You must follow up with them!
